Using the WVFM (Weighted Value for Money) Cost Method in AWARD

When using the WVfM (Weighted Value For Money) cost method in AWARD,  the impact value for the cost question is explicitly set. Thus removing the risk of an incorrect impact value being used in the calculation.

Cost Weight Handling

  • The cost weight is automatically applied based on the value entered during project creation.

  • This value can be edited later if required.

Jump to section:

Non-Lot Projects

In non-lot projects the Cost weight can be edited under Project > Setup > Tools > Cost Setting

From the Cost settings page, Click Edit.  Enter the new Cost Weight.

The Non-Cost question weight will be automatically proportioned out of 100 based upon the Cost weight entered.

Lot Based Projects

The same procedure applies for lot-based projects.

  1. Navigate to:  Project > Setup > Tools > Lots
  2. On the View Lot page, select Edit to update the cost weight for that specific lot.

NOTE: Cost questions cannot be placed under Common Questions, so it is not possible to edit the cost weight for this lot.

Project Templates

For customers using project templates:

  • The cost weight is automatically applied based on the weight set for the cost question in the template.
  • It can be edited at both the template level and the project level for any projects created from that template.

Legacy projects

These changes apply only to new projects created after the 6.5.2 release (25/01/2023).

  • For projects created before this date using the WVFM method, the WVFM ranking will continue to be calculated using the impact value set for the cost question.
  • If you need support with legacy projects, please contact the Customer Success Team for further guidance.
