Introduction
Selecting the appropriate project type is a critical first step in the procurement process. It sets the stage for how the project will be structured, executed, and concluded. This guide will help you understand the different project types available and how to choose the one that best fits your procurement needs.
Common Project Types
- Evaluation
- Multilot
Evaluation Projects are designed to allow you to run a full procurement review.
The key defining factors for a Evaluation project are: that it is for a single requirement and will follow a simple configuration of Assessment and Moderation. Submissions for Evaluation Projects can come from various sources:
- Direct Supplier Interaction
- Import from eSourcing
- Document Upload
Multilot Projects operate similarly to Evaluation Projects but with a key distinction: they cater to multiple requirements. This means you can manage several competitions within a single evaluation framework, making it suitable for complex procurements involving various segments or lots.
Scoring Methods
- Cost
- Non-Cost
Cost Scoring: For Evaluation or Lots-based Projects, AWARD® offers predefined Costing Methods to automate cost calculations. To enable this feature:
- Select the Costing Method option during project setup.
- Choose from AWARD®’s predefined Cost Methods.
- Cost scores will be automatically calculated based on the Submission Costs.
Non-Cost Scoring: If you prefer to calculate Cost scores externally, opt for a Non-Cost Project. In this case:
- Do not select the Costing Method option on the AWARD® setup screen.
- External calculations will be used to determine Cost scores.
Conclusion
Understanding the nuances between Evaluation and Multilot Projects, as well as the available scoring methods, is essential for a successful procurement process. Choose the project type that aligns with your procurement objectives and ensures a smooth and efficient evaluation.
