Duplicate Company Name when Registering

This article is for suppliers who are trying to register for AWARD® or a project and see a message indicating that the company or organisation name is already in use.

What this message means

The duplicate company name message means that another bidding organisation has already registered in AWARD® using the same organisation name.

AWARD® does not allow two supplier organisations with identical names to be registered within the same Authority environment.

How to resolve this

Registering a different bid team

If you are registering a separate bid team from the same organisation, enter a unique organisation name during registration.

For example, you may choose to:

  • Add a team or department reference
  • Include a project‑specific identifier

This allows the registration to continue without conflicting with the existing organisation name.

If you are unsure who has already registered

If:

  • You are unsure which colleague has already registered your organisation, or
  • The person who previously registered has since left your organisation

You should contact the Authority directly. They can:

  • Confirm who is registered under that organisation name
  • Advise whether access can be granted to an existing response team

Important to know

  • Using a differnt organisation name creates a separate supplier registration
  • This should only be done where a genuinely separate bid team is required
  • If you should be working as part of an existing team, the Authority will need to grant you access instead
